Infineon and STmicroelectronics supplier suspends the production
The leading electronic components manufacturers such as UMC, TSMC are raising their price due to the chip shortage and increasing demand. Unisem, a global provider of semiconductor assembly and test for the world leading electronics companies like Infineon and STmicroelectronics, announced on 7, Sep that their plants in Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia will be shut down for a period of 7 days commencing 8, Sep.
The global MLCC market is dominated by Japanese and Korean manufacturers and the key MLCC manufacturers are mainly located in Japan, Korea and Taiwan, China. In addition, MLCC capacitors are dominated by Murata, Samsung Electric, Taiyo Yuden, TDK, Taiwan Yageo, etc.
Why does the price for capacitor increase greatly?
