Malaysia enhanced the movement control order, which led to the suspension of work for many local IDM factories. It is reported that the IDM lead time has been extended by at least 2 weeks, and the situation of MOSFET shortage has been intensified. MOSFET has now become one of the most short supplied electronic components that end companies need.
Production capacity has been reduced, and lead time has been continuously extended
The MOSFET orders have now been scheduled till the end of 2021, and the lead time takes more than 26 weeks. Some key IDM manufacturers utilizes their limited production capacity to produce high to medium voltage MOSFET products, which are widely applied in vehicles and industrial control. Therefore, the medium to low voltage MOSFET are in short supply, and the lead time takes about 10 months.
The price is expected to increase another 10-20%
Due to the extension of the lead time of high, medium and low voltage power MOSFET and the rising costs of some foundries, the overall price of MOSFET has been increasing continuously and is expected to increase another 10-20% in the third quarter.

MCU Prices Set to Rise Again
The current MCU packaging capacity is very tight. Demand for memory packaging is increasing fiercely. MCU prices set to rise again.
Market Review: The price for MCU packages has increased by 15% in the third quarter. Due to the huge demand for smart phones, tablets, and various electronic terminal products, the demand for ICs and microcontrollers are also growing, which lead to the short supply, especially under the circumstance of short supply of wafer foundries production capacity. Therefore, the price for chips are going up again.
Memory Chip Price Is Expected to Increase
The price of memory chips has been fluctuating significantly, and it shows a growing trend on average. Due to the price increase of DRAM, many terminal products are affected such as smart phones, graphics cards, tablets and other DRAM products.
Market Forecast: The price for DRAM is expected to increase by 5-10% in the third quarter, and up to 20-25% at the end of this year. Due to the pandemic, the production capacity of chips and DRAM has been reduced greatly, however, the demand has been increasing, which makes the chips and DRAM in shortage.
